Why was FamilyLine set up? People often find it hard asking for emotional support; many do not like to share problems with family, friends and work colleagues and others have no one to talk to at all.
How do I know my call is confidential? Our Family Helpline operators will not ask your name or any other personal identifying details and we do not exchange information with other agencies.
How can the Family Helpline operators help me? By listening and encouraging, the helpline operators will support you whatever your concern. They will give you plenty of time to talk through all aspects of your problem and will not judge you.
Will you give me advice? The Family Helpline operators cannot give you advice, although they can explore your problem with you. All operators also have access to a large database of local and national resources, specialist organisations and other support groups who may be able to give you more specific advice.
Can I email for help? Yes, we answer all emails within 48 hours so, if it’s urgent, it may be better to call us instead.
When is the helpline open? Our helpline is open from 9am to 5pm weekdays. More...
