Isolation

Are we frightened of looking and feeling old because it reminds us that we're mortal? That we might become infirm?  In truth, the worst part of getting older appears to be ageism - the intolerant attitudes of younger people.

There may be no time better than the present for beginning to imagine an enjoyable, wise, active and fruitful life. Yet so many of us are frightened of looking ahead, as the problems with us today make us feel so isolated and alone.

Are you troubled by a particular problem? Do you have friends and family around, but still feel isolated and alone? Are you on your own and just not know where to turn to for help?

Many people find talking to someone about a problem is like opening a door - it puts you back in control of what’s bothering you. Here, at the family helpline, we will listen supportively to you and give you as much time to talk as you need. Please call on freephone 0808 800 5678.
